The Ulysses High School and Kepley Middle School cross country teams competed at home during the 49th Annual Ulysses Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Bentwood Golf Course.
The meet started at 3 p.m. with the middle school runners. Seventh-grade athletes competed first, followed by the eighth-grade runners. The high school runners followed, with JV and varsity all running together.
UHS and KMS athletes finished the day with 21 personal records.
Coach Shelley Gaddis said Ulysses had 28 high school runners and 12 middle school runners competing in the meet. The event also drew seven high school teams and 13 middle school teams.
“Coach Jeremy Gaddis, Coach Stephanie Barrios and I celebrated first-place wins for both the varsity and JV boys’ teams, as well as a third-place finish for the girls’ varsity team,” Gaddis said. “The weather was perfect, with the sun shining and a welcome break from the high heat.”
