Ulysses Police Department Investigating Counterfeit Money

Posted

Authorities in Ulysses are currently investigating counterfeit money.

According to information provided by the Ulysses Police Department, they are investigating the "exchange of counterfeit money for the purchase of goods from several local businesses."

A spokesperson for the Ulysses Police Department said the investigation involves the $20 note.

"In these cases, each bill has the same serial number, while also containing the word 'COPY' underneath the upper left hand serial number," the spokesperson said. "In some cases, the word 'COPY' has been scratched off in an attempt to make the counterfeit bill difficult to identify."

Authorities say if you are in possession of a similiar bill, have received a similiar bill or have any information regarding these bills, please contact the Officer J. Brown with the Ulysses Police Department, 210 E. Central Avenue, Ulysses, or call (620) 356-3500.
