Voting Underway for Coolest Thing Made in Kansas

“The KMC is excited to get the voting started for this year’s People’s Choice tournament,” said Brandie McPherson, KMC Executive Director. “There are 60 Kansas-made products nominated this year but only the top 16 vote-getters will move on to the tournament.”

Presented by FORVIS, the Kansas Manufacturing Council (KMC) launched the competition in 2020 to promote and elevate Kansas manufacturers and to highlight products developed and produced in Kansas and distributed across the U.S. and internationally.

Kansans have until September 16th to vote for their favorite nominated products.

Once in the tournament, the top 16 vote-getters will compete in head-to-head match-ups. The ones that receive the most votes in each match-up will advance to the next round, moving one step closer to winning the ultimate prize – being named the Coolest Thing Made in Kansas - People’s Choice.

The contest’s new category - Coolest Innovation - received 43 nominations.

“The Coolest Innovation contest will highlight the many ways Kansas manufacturers research and develop new products and work to improve products to address crucial challenges,” said McPherson. “A panel of expert judges will use company-completed questionnaires to narrow the nominees to the top four products and then choose the coolest innovation based on a criteria that includes its impact on the challenge it solves as well as on the business, its employees, and customers.”

The top four scoring products will be invited to present in-person to the expert panel on October 12th at the Coolest Celebration Reception.”

Winners for both categories will be announced during the Kansas Manufacturing Summit on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Kansas Star Casino and Event Center in Mulvane.
