When It Rains, Sometimes It's More Like A Hurricane

Life In The Headlights

Posted

The saying "when it rains it pours", has rang true on more than one occasion over the years. And recent days have shown it can result in more of a hurricane effect than just a simple pouring rain.

I know I'm not the only one who is doing some extra "dealing with life" or "rolling with the punches"; however, when it is in your world, sometimes it can feel like you are the only one.

In the past year alone, I was life flighted out once and my brother-in-law twice. Health issues have been running a muck in my family to say the least.

Here at the Ulysses News, we have had a .revolving door it has seemed with employees some leaving for health reasons, some for family reasons, others for different job positions and even a few who decided it wasn't a good fit. Needless to say, it has been more the norm that we are "short handed". We appreciate all of the patience our readers and supporters have shown us.

In the past year I have lost loved ones, I have had friends lose loved ones, there have been car troubles, and so much more. And all while that was going on, the world seems to have lost its mind with a government shutdown, political fighting, violence..... I really wish the list would not go on and on.

Each generation has said that the years have gotten harder. There has been more to deal with, etc. etc. And to a point, I guess that is right.

However, I would venture to say that technology has just made it easier and quicker to learn what is going right and wrong today. Each generation has had battles to fight, hardships to face and stress to deal with. For the life of me, I don't understand why we don't try harder to find solutions that make more sense.

I do feel each generation has something in common - our faith. No, not everyone will agree, but many would.

Faith is what has carried people through the trials and tribulations of this world since time began. And yet, faith is attacked on a daily basis. I never have been able to understand why someone would attack someone for believing in God. It is their right to not believe, but it is also someone else's right to believe.

If something does not go along with what you personally believe, scroll on by as they say on social media. You don't have to stay there. You don't have to comment. You don't have to share their beliefs. All you have to do is let someone else have the same right you have - to believe in what you want.

Unless of course, you are afraid they are right? I think many of those who do not believe are actually afraid of that very thing. And why? Unfortunately it is human nature for many folks to fight as hard as they can against being proven wrong. Instead of showing evidence of what you believe and stating why you have the convictions you have - many resort to insults and more.

Charlie Kirk is a perfect example. He was a debater. He was a christian. He allowed any and everyone to come up to the mic and speak. He debated them with the skill of such great debaters as Abraham Lincoln, Socrates, and more. He said what he believed. He wasn't throwing rocks or threatening anyone. He just, like everyone else, had an opinion. I didn't always agree with what he said, but I did agree with his right to say it.   He had faith. Something we all need to have more of and practice more as well.
