Grant County Rec Sharks Swim Team member Thaxton Freeman, photo right, was the only swimmer to compete in a district meet February 10-12, according to head coach Aleisha Stepp. Stepp, who is also the head coach for the Western Kansas swim team February 10-12 the sharks, says the local swim team joined the WKSC to swim in the district's meet.
"(Thaxton) swam with five other swimmers: four from Hays and one from Garden City," Stepp said. "He was coached by myself and Coach Kendra also from Hays. With six kids, we placed third out of 11 teams and we had a ton of personal best time’s accomplished. We also had six district champions and five runner up places."
According to Stepp, to swim at this level you must have qualified times.
