Softball Athletes Ask For 'Gently Used' Shoes

Posted

The teams right now are asking for any gently used shoes for a program.

This program takes the communities gently worn shoes, cleans them, and redistributes these shoes to underdeveloped countries.

It is estimated that between 300 to 400 million people do not own shoes.  This shoe fundraiser helps get the shoes on their feet, and helps our community with recycling our shoes and keeping the shoes out of our landfill.  Fact!  It takes 25-40 years for a pair of shoes to break down.

Currently our program has collected a little more than 400 pairs, and we are still counting!

Coach Kimberly Sandoval and Coach Nathan Buchholz have drop off boxes at Kepley and UHS have a box set up for donations, or contact members of the teams for help with your donations!  The program accepts any shoes, size that are gently used with NO holes!

The program continues through September, and the goal is for over 1000 pairs of shoes!  Please help them.
