A Q&A with the Mixer Center

Posted

Q: What can people find inside the facility?
A: This is primarily a showroom, but we also have sales, service, parts, and billing offices, along with a conference room and bathrooms. The parts area is where customers come when they need equipment parts.

Q: How many employees work at this location?
A: We currently have 27 employees working at this location. Most of our service employees are out in the field.

Q: What makes agricultural equipment service different from other types of equipment?
A: Our customers can be some of the hardest on equipment. Dairies, for example, run their equipment a lot of hours. It’s not unusual for a dairy to put thousands of hours on a tractor in a year, sometimes running equipment 16 to 18 hours a day.

Q: Do you provide service around the clock?
A: Yes. We’re a true 24-hour service operation. Customers can call in the middle of the night, and we have people who can go out and take care of them.

Q: What was the reason for building the new facility?
A: We needed more space. The old shop was getting crowded, so this gives us room to bring equipment in and work on it without constantly having to move things around. We have large bridge cranes in the shop, which makes working on equipment much more convenient.

Q: Is the entire building finished?
A: Not yet. We built enough to get the operation in here and then plan to finish the rest as we grow. There are areas that will eventually become additional storage, a mezzanine, and a break room.

Q: Do you sell used equipment as well as new equipment?
A: Yes. We do a lot of trade-ins. A lot of our customers trade in their old equipment when they purchase something new, and there is always somebody looking for used equipment.

Q: How far does your equipment reach?
A: Used equipment can be advertised across the United States and even farther. With new equipment, we’re more limited by territory because we need to be able to service what we sell. Our new-equipment territory includes much of Kansas and Colorado.

Q: How important is having a local operation?
A: We really like hiring local when it works for us. We want to have the people and facilities here to support our customers.

Q: What has the new building meant for the business?
A: It gives us room to grow. We were able to build what we needed to get started, and now we can continue expanding as the business grows.
