Juan “Frost” Nico, a plumber who works in Garden City, hosted the Western Prairie Senior Living Car Show. Everyone calls him Frost.
When asked what he likes about Ulysses, Frost said it is the people who make the community special.
“The people are real caring and always wanting to give and support each other,” he said.
Christina Smith was also at the event helping seniors. Smith has lived in Ulysses for 16 years. Her daughter, Kieraten, was helping residents inside during the event.
Smith said crocheting and needlepoint are two of her favorite hobbies, something people might not know about her.
Ira and Ava were also attending the car show. Ira is a sixth-grade teacher who also runs PH (Pouring Happiness) as a side job. Ava is a high school student who works at PH.
The community is one of the things Ira and Ava appreciate most about Ulysses.
“The community and everyone comes together and helps each other, like this event with the seniors,” they said. “It’s something we love to see happen around town.”
