The 17th Annual Rotary Duck Race, October 3, drew a number of onlookers as the colorful, plastic fowl made their way down the watery track.
Winners for the event and their prize amounts were first place, Marieta Hauser, $1,000; second, Stacy Figgins, $500; third, Rachael Thooft, $250; fourth, Janet Davis, $100; fifth, Janie Gonzalez, $75; sixth, Aaron Gaddis, $50; seventh, Morgan Hudson,$50; and eighth place went to Warner Automotive, $50.
Hard Luck Duck winners were first place, Norma Madrid; and second place, Jan Goehring.
According to the Rotarians, ducks were launched on the Joyce Street waterway beginning at the intersection of Joyce and Wilson Streets at 6:30 p.m. Participants, who adopted one of the ducks, did not need to be present in order to win. Ducks were adopted one for $10; three for $25; or six for $50.
All proceeds from the event go toward the following Rotarian projects: UHS scholarships, the foreign exchange student program, Lunch Bunch, Interact, International Group Study exchanges, International Ambassadorial scholarships, Polio Plus, International Clean Water projects, Dictionary program, and Grant County Gives.
