The 11th Annual Chocolate Affair hosted by Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Volunteers took place Friday, February 13 - just in time for Valentine's Day. This year's event raised an estimated $1,400 - although final figures have not yet been tallied.
Money raised from the event goes to scholarships for Grant County residents. The volunteers like to give out 10 of the scholarships each year. Those eligible for a scholarship are Grant County residents who are pursuing a medical degree. Scholarships are typically for $750, however, if funds are available, they increase those to $1,000.
Each year, the Volunteers host the event in the lobby of Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. This year, as in year's past, chocolate was not the only thing perspective customers could purchase. Volunteers added jewelry, other baked items, a leather purse, crocheted items and more.
