Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Hosts Meeting January 8

Posted

The BMW Hospital Volunteers met in the Cooper-Clark Room of the Library on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. Bonnie Walters, Vice President called the meeting to order at 9:34 am with the reading of the Prayer for Hospital Volunteers.

Roll call was taken and seven members were in attendance: Joyce Brom, Joyce Gilbert, Joyce Briggs, Vana Campbell, Shirley Isbel, Deanna Gallegos and Bonnie Walters.

Joyce Gilbert, filling in for Secretary, Sue-Ellen Borthwick, read the minutes of the December 11, 2024 meeting. There was one change recommended: add Ulysses as the location of the District 6 meeting for clarification; the change was approved and the minutes were accepted with the change.

Joyce Brom read some communication items that were received.

Treasurer, Taunya Lindahl was not in attendance – there was no report for December.  Joyce Brom commented on the report Taunya gave last month regarding the sales in the gift shop for the year having continued to average around $1,000 per month.

Old Business

Joyce Brom reported that the Pink Ladies are doing well.

The blood drive was successful, but Bill has not provided the official numbers to Bonnie. The next blood drive is scheduled for February 27.

As reported with the Treasurer’s discussion regarding slow sales in the gift shop this past month, there was some discussion on Taunya’s ideas for having featured items on sale periodically, maybe putting some sale items on display in the lobby, and dealing with the Christmas items. Also discussed was the suggestion that we have another Circle Drive Garage Sale this spring, with members agreeing that it has been successful in the past.

There was no report for Scholarships and Marketing/Facebook.

New Business

Due to low attendance at this meeting, officer installations will take place at a future meeting.

Some preparations for the April 9th, 2025 District 6 meeting have already been made. Delores has secured the speakers. Additional preparation details will be discussed at the February meeting.

The donation for the Podiatrist’ chair for Physical therapy was discussed, other options were presented that might work, i.e. a reclining chair that lifts the patient’s legs, but Joyce Brom said she would talk more with Jeryl.

There was no report concerning the Grant Want List or Service awards.

Some members still need to turn in their 2024 volunteer hours.

The membership luncheon has been moved to March.

Deanna proposed February 13th for the date for the Chocolate Affair. This was approved. Joyce Brom will send an email to the volunteers for providing sweets and working at the event. She also stated she would begin working on advertising the event. The sign-up sheet will be posted in the gift shop.

Due to the recent low attendance at the monthly meetings, changing the time to 10:00 a.m. was discussed. There was no report on Sue-Ellen being able reach out to those not in attendance to see how they feel about the proposed change. The change was not approved, Joyce Brom moved that the meeting start time will remain at 9:30 a.m., Vana seconded and all approved.

Next meeting will be on February 12th, at 9:30 a.m. in the Cooper-Clark room in the library.

Meeting adjourned at 10:22 a.m.

Respectfully submitted, Joyce Gilbert for Sue-Ellen Borthwick

Sue-Ellen Borthwick BWMHV Secretary
