BOISE CITY, Okla.— A body found in May on a mesa in Cimarron County, Okla., is believed to be a person reported missing in Missouri.
Sunday night, a landowner found an abandoned vehicle on his property. The vehicle was linked to a missing persons case in Pettis County, Mo.
In May, 50 first responders from Cimarron, Texas, and Beaver counties in Oklahoma searched for the driver using ATVs, horses, and drones.
Cimarron County Sheriff Mark Swinton said the victim was found just before noon on the day of the search.
The body - which is believed to have been there for weeks - was sent to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner for an official identification and determine a cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
