The Scholarship Committee of the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital Volunteers recently announced its selection of recipients for 2026.
The following individuals will each receive a $1,000 scholarship for continuing education in a health related field:
Elyzabeth Nunez (Wichita State University, Wichita, KS – Biomedical Engineering); Dulce R. Ramirez (Seward County Community College, Liberal, KS – Nursing Program – RN); Katherine Guaderrama (Seward County Community College, Liberal KS – Respiratory Therapy); Lorenzo Gomez (Wichita State University, Wichita, KS – Physical Therapy); Ruby Romero (Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS – Nurse Practitioner).
The following individuals will receive a $750 scholarship:
Preston Hittle (Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, KS – Radiologist Technician or Physical Therapy); Paloma Soto (Colby Community College, Colby, KS and then Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS – Doctor Veterinary Medicine); Stephanie Garcia (Wichita State University, Wichita, KS – Nursing – RN); Judith Alvarado (Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS – Radiology Technologist); Aaliyah Michelle Figgins (Colby Community College, Colby, KS – Physical Therapy Assistant).
These scholarships are awarded every year to both high school seniors and others in the community who wish to begin or continue advanced education in a health related field. The money comes from the BWM Hospital Volunteers gift shop profits and other fundraisers.
The Auxiliary also receives support and donations from the community.
"We are grateful for the generous support we receive from our community," a spokesperson said.
