The weekly Chamber Coffee Friday, December 5, took place inside Grant County Bank, where community members gathered to celebrate the retirement of longtime employee Galen Pelton.
Pelton, who dedicated 34 of his 40 working years to Grant County Bank, was honored with warm applause before the event was turned over to him to express his gratitude to those in attendance.
During the gathering, it was announced another familiar face, Marietta Hauser, will celebrate her retirement December 19, at Bear Creek. Hauser also thanked everyone who took part in the recent Light Parade, noting the event featured an impressive 34 floats.
Looking ahead, the Chamber reminded residents of several upcoming holiday activities. The Hometown Shopper Event will take place December 18, during Main Street Blaze. Tickets cost $10 per person, and shoppers will have the chance to win $300 in Chamber Bucks.
Grant County Recreation Department announced a “Parents Day Out” planned for December 20, offering games, crafts, and a walk to the movies with free popcorn. The event is designed to give families time to finish their holiday shopping and requires sign-up by December 17. The American Legion will be handing out apples, while the Lions Club will distribute candy bags. The Recreation Department is also hosting a small tree contest and encouraged anyone interested to contact their office.
Ginger Anthony from Grant County Historic Adobe Museum shared details about the Parade of Homes which took place December 6, from 4–8 p.m., featuring five beautifully decorated homes. The Museum also hosted its annual Santa Sunday December 7, where families could bring their own camera to take photos with Santa.

● Bob Dale praised Galen Pelton’s long service on local boards and his dedication to the community.
● SADD will host a Sloppy Joe meal and silent auction at the basketball game Friday, December 19, beginning at 7 p.m.
● Furever Friends will host an adoption event December 6.
The next Chamber Coffee will be hosted by American Implement.
