The 23rd Annual Chamber of Commerce’s Big Event ‘A Holiday Affair’ drew a large crowd to the Historic Adobe Museum on Nov. 23. Chamber of Commerce Director Marita Hauser said more than 120 items from more than 80 vendors were auctioned off during the silent action throughout the night, and the live auction of several big ticket items brought in thousands of dollars.
The live auction, led by Bravane Phelps, included a Tristar Arms Cobra III Tactical 12GA/3/18.5 shotgun donated by TEL Creations; a Browning X-Bolt .300 Winchester Magnum Bolt Action Rifle donated by Tarbet Services LLC and Tarbet Guns and Ammo; a half hog fully processed by Daisy Hill Farms and donated by Matkin Accounting, and a 2014 GMC Double Cab 4x4 pickup donated by Pioneer Communications.
Jo Angela Tarbet had the winning bid of around $7,000 for the pickup and Ted Lindahl the winning bid for the half a hog. Dexter Peters had the winning bid for the Browning X-Bolt .300 Winchester Magnum Bolt Action Rifle and Peter Barbos the winning bid for the Tristar Arms Cobra III Tactical 12GA/3/18.5 shotgun.
Marvin Meile won the 50/50 drawing of $494, and three different winners had the high bids for up to $700 in Ulysses Bucks.
“We had a great turnout,” said chamber director Marita Hauser. “We were pleased with the turnout and definitely pleased with the donations. We probably had 120, or around that, as far as items that were sold.”
Hauser said more than $14,000 was raised.
