Diana Faye (Deyoe) Lightcap, 70, passed away peacefully on June 16.

She was born July 12, 1954, in Satanta, Kan., to Robert and Norma (Beatty) Deyoe.

Diana grew up on her third generation family farm in Ulysses. She was a proud farmer's daughter and continued to take an active interest in her brother and sons' farming operation.

Diana grew up in Ulysses, graduating with the Ulysses High School Class of 1972.

She was involved in many activities in the community. She was a member of the 4-H chapter. She was an excellent piano and organ player. She played at the Home Products Dinner many times. Diana played at local rodeos. Actually, there was a time when Diana played the organ at one of the Royals baseball games.

Diana had a successful life insurance and investment business with Modern Woodman of America and GE Financial Services.

After moving to the Kansas City area, Diana went to work for Schmitt Music, where she sold organs and taught organ lessons.

After retiring, Diana enjoyed teaching piano and organ lessons in her home. When the Covid situation happened, she taught students online. She actually taught a good friend who was a classmate, as well as several other students online.

Diana had a strong Christian faith. In her final years, she spent much of her time calling friends or family and praying with them, or encouraging them with a funny story. Diana's entire family recalls the pleasure of family holidays, gathering around the organ at the family farm.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Norma Deyoe.

Survivors include her daughter, Dimitra Becker; granddaughters: Brook and Bailey Becker; siblings: Dennis (Sheryl) Deyoe, Bev Deyoe (Dennis Ragland), Eddie (Sheila) Deyoe; nieces and nephews: Velvet, Nikki, Cherry, Dylan, Matt, Wade, and their spouses; as well as many cousins, great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is planned for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, at the First United Methodist Church, 321 West Grant Avenue, Ulysses.
