Estevan Morales, 48, known by his friends and family as Steven or Quico, passed away Monday, January 27, at his home in Ulysses. 

He was born December 7, 1976, in Ulysses, the son of Erasmo and Manuela (Vasquez) Morales. 

Steven was the youngest of nine siblings.

He graduated from Ulysses High School in 1996.

He worked as a skilled heavy equipment operator for WT Contractors.

He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Nebraska Huskers fan.

He cared deeply for others and was passionate about fostering relationships in his life. He had a heart of gold and showed love through his generosity.

His children Eva and Alex, and grandson, Santiago, remain the best parts of his life. He built a strong foundation with his children. His son, Alex, was his best friend.

He will be remembered for his willingness to help and support the people in his life. His daily calls to connect with family and friends will be missed.

Steven is survived by his son, Alex Morales, Ulysses; daughter, Eva Morales and fiancé, Alexis Soto, Midland, Texas; brothers: Carlos Morales, Ulysses, Jesus Morales and wife, Edita, Loxahatchee, Fla., Jose Ramon Morales, Ulysses, and Evelio Morales, Firestone, Colo.; sisters: Leticia Chavez and husband, Marcos, Ulysses, and Evelia Castilleja and husband, Arnold, Wichita, Kan.; one grandson, Santiago Soto; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Erasmo and Manuela V. Morales; brother, Erasmo Morales, Jr.; and sister, Olivia Galaviz.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Thursday, January 30, and from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and 2-8 p.m., Friday, January 31, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. 

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 1, at Emmanuel Ministierio in Ulysses, with Pastor George Devora officiating.

Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be given to Estevan Morales Children’s Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS  67880.
