This week’s Responder of the Week is Jace Garrison, a prime example of the humble, unboastful, yet exceptionally bright future of Grant County.
Jace is the son of Jeremy Garrison, a longtime local first responder who has served the community for over 30 years with Grant County EMS and the Emergency Management Rescue Division. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jace has shown an unwavering dedication to service and hard work.
A 2020 graduate of Ulysses High School, Jace attended college briefly before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably. He joined the Grant County Fire Department in the spring of 2021. Continuing to expand his skills, Jace became an EMT in June 2022, and through perseverance and determination, he earned his Advanced EMT certification in August 2025.
Outside of his emergency service duties, Jace is employed at Warner Automotive, working alongside Kris Warner, who also serves as a local first responder. Known for his strong work ethic, Jace rarely has a moment of rest—balancing his full-time job, fire and EMS responsibilities, and family life.
In his limited spare time, Jace also gives back to the community as a wrestling official, and in 2025, he had the honor of officiating at the State Wrestling Tournament.
Jace and his wife Morgan, who also serves as a first responder with Grant County EMS, are raising three daughters together. Despite his demanding schedule, Jace says the work is deeply rewarding.
“Even when it means being up all night on call and then heading straight to work, it’s all worth it when someone stops by the station to say thank you,” he shared.
Recently promoted to Lieutenant with the Grant County Fire Department, Jace expressed gratitude for the people and resources that make the county’s emergency services strong.
“Grant County is fortunate to have such a well-equipped and dedicated emergency service,” he noted.
Through his dedication, service, and heart for the community, Jace Garrison exemplifies what it means to be a Grant County first responder.
