Secure Your Child’s Future

Posted

Every parent wants the best for their child’s future, and one of the best ways to make sure your child will have a bright future is to be sure that you are correctly using the right car seat for your child and that the seat is correctly installed in your vehicle every time. The problem is that keeping them safe in vehicles isn’t as easy as it might appear. Most parents think they are using their car seat correctly, but unfortunately, at least three out of four car seats are used incorrectly. For a car seat to best protect your child, it must be the one that fits your child, your vehicle, and one that you will use correctly every time you travel.

That’s why K-State Research and Extension Agent and Certified Technician, Monica Walker, is urging parents and caregivers to attend a free child safety seat checkup event on September 19 at the Grant County Fire Department, 715 E. Oklahoma Ave. in Ulysses. Certified technicians will be available to provide on-site child safety seat inspections and education from 1-4 pm. Spanish speaking technicians and interpreters will be available. A limited number of new car seats provided by Grant County Women of Purpose will be available to families that need them. Parents and caregivers should bring their child, and know the child’s height and weight. For more information, contact the Grant County Extension Office at 620-356-1721. This event is sponsored by the Grant County Health Department, Grant County Women of Purpose, the Kansas Children’s Service League, and K-State Research and Extension Grant County. K-State Research and Extension is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
