Grant County Board of Commissioners met March 3, opening the meeting with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance before addressing several items of county business.

One of the first agenda items involved printer bids presented by Cindy Wellbrock. Three bids were submitted for consideration, including two bids of $2,640 from Office Solutions and Southern Office Supply, and a third bid of $3,680 from Divine Solutions of Woodward, Oklahoma. Funding for the purchase will come from the county’s Special Equipment Fund. Following discussion, commissioners approved the bid from Southern Office Supply for $2,640.

Sam Minks of the Road and Bridge Department brought forward a request for a wage increase for a position at the county transfer station. The request was approved by the commission. Minks also noted that a request for the purchase of a tractor will be discussed during a future meeting.

Commissioners also approved three wage increases for employees at the Grant County Senior Center.

Grant County Treasurer Terri Trotman requested approval to obtain bids for new office furniture better suited for the Treasurer’s Office. The commissioners approved moving forward with collecting bids, with the cost to be paid from the Motor Vehicle Fund.

Additional discussion during the meeting focused on the potential use of solar panels for county facilities. Commissioners noted that the idea will be reviewed by the appropriate departments and officials before any decisions are made.

There was also preliminary discussion regarding data centers and how such facilities operate. Commissioners indicated further research and information will be needed before the topic can be explored further.

Commissioner Darrin Figgins emphasized the importance of purchasing locally whenever possible when the county makes equipment or service purchases.

The board also approved meeting minutes and county bills totaling $323,538.43.

Commissioners briefly revisited previous discussions regarding building and foundation concerns at county facilities. Officials noted that the county will soon be seeking bids for excavation and concrete work related to those issues.

With no further business before the board, the meeting was adjourned.
