Shop local - you hear it, but why should you? And more importantly, are you?
Here's one example of the why...
Katie's Goodie Shop, owned by Olga Pauda, is a quaint little brick and mortar in downtown Ulysses. It's nothing fancy, but it doesn't have to be. At Katie's, you can get "real" hamburgers, not processed. You can get sugar cookies and other confectioneries that are scrumptious to say the least, and you can get something most big chains and cities don't have - a business that truly cares about their customers.
There's a very special story behind the creation of the store and where it gets its name - you can find some of that story available to read inside the shoppe.
There are snow cones, cookies, cake, pie, cupcakes, hamburgers, fries, ham sandwiches, chicken fried steak sandwiches, pretzels, and lots more to choose from. The corn nuggets are awesome.
They are open Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., with the dining room closing at 4 p.m., but good news - the drive through is open until 5.
Regular customers are remembered by name and their favorite menu choices. Olga and her staff greet customers with a smile and warmth that you can only experience when you "shop local and make community first".
If you're in Ulysses, live in Ulysses, just passing through - Katie's won't let you down.
