If you’re looking to break away from the ordinary lunch routine—or simply craving something warm, filling, and just a little different—Nora’s Sweetz & Bene’s Spudz has quietly become one of Ulysses’ go-to spots.
Since opening during the Grant County Fair in 2023, the locally owned shop has carved out its own niche by combining hearty, creative baked potatoes with a classic candy shop experience—all under one roof on Main Street.
On the savory side, Bene’s Spudz offers a unique twist on traditional “taters,” with menu favorites like the “Tater Takes a Walk” and the “Mister Mister” giving customers something far beyond the standard baked potato. Each dish is built to satisfy, delivering a filling meal that hits the spot whether you’re on a quick lunch break or meeting up with friends. But it’s not just the food that keeps customers coming back. Step inside, and you’ll find a quaint, welcoming space paired with some of the friendliest customer service in town—a combination that makes the experience just as enjoyable as the meal itself.
On the sweeter side, Nora’s Sweetz offers a wide variety of candies, available individually or in bulk. Whether you’re picking up a small treat or stocking up on favorites, the selection is sure to bring out the kid in anyone who walks through the door.
The shop also offers a midweek highlight with its popular “Pasta Wednesday,” featuring rotating specials served in the evening—adding another reason for locals to stop in and see what’s cooking.
Bene’s Spudz is closed Mondays and open Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for the pasta special. Nora’s Sweetz is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., also with extended hours on Wednesdays.
Whether you’re after a hearty lunch, a midweek pasta night, or just something sweet to brighten your day, Nora’s Sweetz & Bene’s Spudz offers a little bit of everything—served with a smile right here in the heart of downtown Ulysses.
