Home Products Committee Invites All To Attend Dinner

An Annual Affair

Posted

The Home Products Dinner Committee was host for last week's Grant County Chamber Coffee at the Oasis Church in Ulysses.

This year's committee members Kristi Breese, Andy McMillan, Sean McKown, Casey Caldwell, Kiley Long, Alba Marina Alvarado, and Marcia Swann, were in attendance to talk about the event, which took place on Tuesday evening.

Caldwell and Breese encouraged everyone to come out for the annual event.

"It's the 62nd annual (dinner) that we are doing this year," Caldwell said. "It should be pretty good for our community."

Caldwell explained that tickets for the event were $12 each and could be purchased at a number of local businesses including American Implement, all of the banks, Grant County Senior Center, The Ulysses News, and the chamber office.

"It will be two hours of entertainment," Caldwell said. "The food is delicious."

Breese asked that everyone come and support the event.

"This is a scholarship fundraiser that we do to give back to the kids," Breese explained.

According to Breese last Saturday, volunteers would begin "produce picking".

"Monday we will start setting up," she added. "(Do some tear down), rearrange - tons of stuff. We will be cutting watermelon on Monday at 9 a.m., if anyone has free time and wants to come help cut watermelon - we will be at the civic center. We have guys that show up at 7 a.m., to help us with set up. If you want to volunteer for something just get a hold of one of us and we will put you to work."

Breese said if anyone wants to volunteer for the committee, to get in touch with them.

"Everybody is always saying that takes so long - it is a lot of work," she said. "But, it's not when you have a good team with you. When we all work together no one person is stuck doing one thing. (The dinner) is something good that we need to keep continuing so we really need men to step up.

Grant County Chamber of Commerce Assistant Director Robin Leonard commended the committee on their work.

"They have worked really hard this year," she said. "I have gotten to see a lot more this year of what actually goes on and you guys are awesome."

Leonard noted that those wanting to attend could also purchase their dinner "buttons" at the door.

The dinner took place at 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 16 at the Civic Center. Entertainment that night was by Dennis Gaxiola, a funny, clean comedian.
