Jorge Alonso Heredia, 71, died March 9, in Garden City, Kan.
He was born, February 4, 1955, in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico to Servando and Marianita Lascano De Heredia.
Jorge grew up in Mexico before moving to Colorado at the age of 15 years old.
He met his wife, Frances Acosta, and they were married, in 1975.
The couple moved to Ulysses where he worked during the Oil Patch Boom of 1979. He worked for Smyth Oil & Gas and Amoco/BP. After 25 years of hard work and dedication, he retired in 2019 from the Jayhawk Plant. He was committed to his faith and served in the choir at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church for 15 years.
He enjoyed watching basketball and rooting for his favorite team, the Chicago Bulls. His favorite player was, the legend, Michael Jordan.
Jorge is survived by his wife, Frances Heredia; children: Juan Carlos Heredia and wife, Xochil, George Heredia and wife, Veronica, Jaime Javier Heredia and wife, Tara, Nidia Marina Heredia, and Lolie Betancourt and husband, Jose; brothers: Oscar Manuel Heredia, Emigdio Heredia and wife, Adela, Juan de Dios Heredia and wife, Patricia; sister, Elodia Trejo and husband, Agustin; grandchildren: Isaiah T. Darnes and wife, Marisol, Janeah A. Heredia, Christian A. Heredia, Logan Shawn Heredia, Landyn A Simon, Briesen Georgia Heredia, Jetson James Heredia, Alexandra Yasmin Heredia, Sebastian D’Angelo Heredia, Jonathan Javier Heredia; and great grand-daughter, Sujey Marina Heredia.
Jorge is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Servando Heredia and Jose Maria Heredia.
Visitation was from 2-6 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Garnand Funeral Home, and from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Rosary followed at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass was at 2 p.m., March 13, at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ulysses, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi officiating.
Interment followed in the Ulysses Cemetery.
