Naomi Ellen Appling

Posted

It is with profound sadness and incomprehensible sense of loss that we announce the passing of our precious Naomi Ellen Appling on September 25, from this earthly life.

Naomi, 46, was born March 23, 1978.

Naomi was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and wife.  Those who knew her well knew that Her sweet and gentle heart was unique and without equal.

She had steadfast faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, that became stronger with each day.  She fought her chronic medical problems heroically despite a medical system by which she was so often misunderstood.

Our sadness is tempered only be the knowledge of her now glorious existence in the presence of God, the Father and His only Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Naomi and Scott met in La Crosse and were married August 12, 2016, and lived in Ulysses, until her passing.

Her love for her sons, Jason and Ethan, was unwavering.  So too was her love for her mother, Paula, and the rest of her family.

Prior to moving to Ulysses, Naomi worked as a talented laboratory assistant and phlebotomist in both large (University) and small hospitals.  She always worked hard and long hours despite her medical condition and always expected more from herself than from anyone else.

She leaves behind in this world, her sons: Ethan Glenn, Layton, Utah, and Jason Glenn, La Crosse, Kan.; her mother, Paula Keener, La Cross; brother, David Riddle, and his wife, Deidra, Lochbuie, Colo.; sister, Laura Riddle, La Crosse; stepfather, Cliff Riddle, Otis, Kan.; brother, Jeremy Bilson, Lyons, Kan.; 13 nieces and nephew; her husband, Scott Appling, and his family; sister-in-law, Libby Bliss; stepdaughter, Claire Appling; stepson, Ian Appling; and mother-in-law, Sandy Rector.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Bilson.

A Celebration of Naomi’s Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 19, at the Rose Garden, 2350 E. Eighth in Hays.

Memorial contributions may be given to the National Organization for Rare Disorders at rarediseases.org or in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS  67880.
