HUGOTON – Authorities are currently investigating a fire in Hugoton, which claimed one life.
According to a spokesperson from the City of Hugoton, the incident occurred around 8:20 a.m., Monday, at 1501 South Washington Street.
The fire occurred in an outbuilding or shed which belonged to the City of Hugoton's electrical department. The structure was located near the Hugoton Power Plant.
A call to the Hugoton Police Department resulted in no comment, and all questions were referred to the Kansas State Fire Marshal's Office, which has been called in to investigate what may have caused the fire. Calls to the State Fire Marshal's Office were not answered.
The name of the person who was killed in the fire has not been released.
