Much needed recipitation fell Monday in Grant County bringing with it the sweet, clean smell of rain followed by nature showing off with clouds and a double rainbow.
Precipitation amounts were given as .66 inches in the most recent rainfall and .91 inches within the last 24 hours (as of Tuesday).
Prior to that, accumulation for Grant County was given as 1.18 inches.
Nearby Johnson, Kan., rainfall was listed at .61 inches within that same time period and Satanta at .13 inches.
This was welcomed after the prolonged dry spell the area has been under - ripe for wildfires and all the damage that accompanies them. However, it is still not enough .
Recent reports from NOAA show that 88.3 percent of Grant County is still in an "extreme drought" condition.
Some rain is in the forecast for next week, however it is only expected at around 24 percent.
