Ulysses came alive on October 4, for its annual Fall Fest, a celebration that continues to bring out the best in the community. Organized by committee members Kristi Breese, Robin Leonard, Edeka Hauser, and Marieta Hauser, the event filled downtown with laughter, conversation, and fun for all ages.
Main Street and Grant Avenue were lined with vendors, local organizations, and interactive attractions. The popular Touch-A-Truck display featured equipment and vehicles from Grant County EMS, local and state law enforcement, the Grant County Fire Department, Marvin’s Farm Equipment Repair, American Implement, and Wilson Crane.
Grant County Bank added to the excitement by hosting an axe throwing event, while Fired on Main welcomed visitors to its newly opened ceramics facility for hands-on activities. Safety Fest participants included Pioneer Communications, Pioneer Electric, the Grant County Extension, and the Grant County Health Department, who all joined together to promote community safety. Attendees also enjoyed a complimentary hot dog feed during the event.
Children had plenty to enjoy as well, with the Tiger Egg Hunt in the park and the always-popular Coins in the Sand activity. In the afternoon, the local Recreation Department and Ulysses Middle School cheerleaders took to the streets to perform, energizing the crowd before the adult tricycle races and an evening concert.
Despite occasional gusty winds, the weather proved nearly perfect for a day dedicated to community connection, creativity, and good old-fashioned fun. Fall Fest once again proved why Ulysses is proud to call itself a community that comes together.
