Downtown Ulysses came alive August 14 as the City of Ulysses hosted its 3rd Annual End of Summer Bash, Rock the Block Downtown, turning Main Street into a celebration filled with laughter, music, food, games and plenty of community spirit.

The evening kicked off at 5:30 p.m. with the Kiwanis Club’s free backpack and school supply giveaway. The giveaway was a tremendous success, with families coming together and community members giving back to help local students head into the new school year prepared for success.

As the evening continued, there was something for everyone to enjoy. A cornhole tournament began at 6 p.m., while food trucks Delgado’s Rinconcito, Big Flavor and PH Lemonade served up food and refreshments.

Kids had plenty of opportunities to have fun, with RC car racing, bounce houses and sidewalk chalk stations keeping them entertained throughout the evening. The City of Ulysses also hosted a free movie at the movie theater, giving families the opportunity to enjoy Spider-Man: Brand New Day together.

Unity Plaza was another gathering spot, featuring a Beer Garden and live music from The Adam Mathes Band and Ulysses Parkway. The music, activities and crowds created an exciting atmosphere throughout downtown.

The 3rd Annual End of Summer Bash was more than just a night of entertainment—it was a celebration of Ulysses and the people who make the community special. From the generous backpack giveaway to the activities, food and live entertainment, the event brought residents together for an amazing night and a memorable way to close out the summer before the start of another school year.
