Ulysses City Council and Mayor met October 7, to discuss a range of city business and upcoming projects.
The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and Opening Prayer, followed by approval of the Consent Agenda from the September 24 meeting. Accounts payable totaled $158,488.72.
Under Old Business, discussion continued regarding repairs to an older city sewer truck. The repair cost of $68,298.38 was reviewed, with the final decision postponed until the next meeting.
In New Business, Sarah Brown was officially sworn in as the new City Treasurer.
The council then reviewed bids for new city equipment, including a 2024 John Deere 5100E tractor with cab priced at $73,500 and a John Deere FC10R mower priced at $28,500. The quote also included a $5,000 trade-in credit for a John Deere 5425 tractor and a $2,500 credit for a 2005 John Deere CX15 mower.
The council also discussed rezoning property at 1300 West Oklahoma from Highway Service to Light Industrial.
Meeting dates for the remainder of the year were updated, with the November meeting set for November 24 and the December meeting set for December 22. The city will observe holiday closures on December 24 (half day), December 25, December 26, and January 2.
City Administrator Luke Grimes concluded the meeting by thanking everyone for their assistance during Fall Fest and the recent citywide clean-up.
