Ulysses Police Department officers were busy Monday with a variety of calls, and multiple ones that evening, resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old male.

According to a press release from Ulysses Police Chief Ron Vagher, officers received the first call at 6:58 p.m.

"Officers took a report of an assault that had (allegedly) occurred earlier in the day at 820 East Oklahoma Avenue," Vagher said in a press release. "This (alleged) incident involved an 18-year-old female victim and a 25-year-old male suspect who was identified by the victim."

A short approximate two and a half hours later, officers were called to a second location involving the 25-year-old male.

"At approximately 9:23 p.m., officers were dispatched to 1845 West Oklahoma Avenue, in reference to an (alleged) robbery," Vagher explained. "During that incident, the same suspect, identified by victims, allegedly threatened employees of a business with an edged weapon and then allegedly stole a case of beer before fleeing the area prior to law enforcement arriving at the scene."

Officers were able to locate the man an hour later at 2524 Annie Drive in Ulysses.

"During the attempt to take the suspect into custody, the suspect resisted arrest," Vagher said. "He was ultimately apprehended without further incident and was transported to Grant County Correctional facility."

According to Vagher, the investigation into the incidents remains ongoing.

"No additional information is being released at this time, pending official charges being filed with the Grant County Attorney's Office," Vagher said. "The Ulysses Police Department would like to thank Grant County Sheriff's Department for their assistance during these investigations."
