To many, January 29 is simply another day on the calendar — but in Kansas, it is a day of celebration. Kansas Day marks the state’s admission into the Union, and this year, Ulysses Preschool students marked the occasion with a meaningful trip to the Historic Adobe Museum.
The visit offered young learners an opportunity to experience Kansas history firsthand. The Historic Adobe Museum is widely recognized for its detailed recreations of a Native American encampment, striking world-class murals depicting scenes from Grant County’s past, and its Dust Bowl exhibit — honored as one of the Eight Wonders of Kansas History. Students also explored the Ralsamore Hotel, a restored landmark from the original townsite of Old Ulysses.
The Kansas Day outing provided an engaging and educational experience, allowing students to connect with the stories and history that shaped their community and state. It was a memorable way to celebrate Kansas Day and a thoughtful choice by preschool teachers to introduce local history at an early age.
