Vicki Jane Lowry, 78, Ulysses, passed away February 24, at Western Prairie Senior Living, in Ulysses.
She was born June 24, 1947, in Liberal, Kan., the daughter of Cleston and Martha (Moser) Lowry.
Vicki grew up in Ulysses, and graduated from Grant County Rural High School. She continued her education at Emporia State University and later earned her master’s degree from Fort Hays State University.
Vicki began her professional career as a teacher, where she inspired countless students. She later transitioned into school counseling, dedicating herself to helping young people. Her compassion and wisdom made a lasting impact on students and colleagues. She retired in 2010, concluding a career marked by many years commitment.
Beyond her professional life, Vicki found great joy in the simple moments life offered. She treasured time spent in Taos, NM. She loved being at the lake, especially water skiing and enjoying the sunshine and laughter that came with those gatherings.
She is survived by her partner, Michael Brewer, Ulysses; son, Vernal and wife, Jessica Lattimore, Ulysses; grandchildren: Kaylin Lattimore and Waylan Lattimore, both of Ulysses; and sisters: Shirley Lowry and partner, Nancy, Santa Fe, NM, Linda Duran and husband, Richard, Marble Falls, Texas, and Kathy Clark, Caldwell, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleston and Martha.
Visitation took place from 2-8 p.m., Friday, February 27, at Garnand Funeral Home.
Funeral Service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 28, at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, with Minister Warren Baldwin officiating.
Interment followed at Ulysses Cemetery.
