Walk Kansas, the popular K-State Research and Extension program that encourages physical activity and healthy eating, runs March 30 through May 24, and is celebrating its 25th year.
Participants can sign up online or through the Grant County Extension Office. The cost to participate is $10 per person, which includes access to the online tracker, a weekly newsletter with tips and recipes, program resources, and local activities. Walk Kansas t-shirts are also available for purchase.
“This is a great way to make a promise to yourself to be more active and to make lifestyle choices that support healthy living,” said Monica Walker, Grant County Extension Agent. “Plus, it’s fun to support friends, family, neighbors or co-workers – anyone who makes up your team.” Businesses are encouraged to form a team and challenge other fellow businesses.
Participants form teams of four to six, with one serving as a team captain, or Solos may participate. Participants record their own activity online each week. Participants do not have to participate together, or even live in Kansas. Many teams form with family members or friends in other parts of the state or country. Teams connect through technology.
More information and registration for Walk Kansas is available online at https://www.walkkansas.org/ or by calling the Grant County Extension Office at 620-356-1721. K-State Research & Extension is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
