Women Of Purpose Hosts Chamber Coffee

Posted

Women of Purpose hosted the Grant County Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m., October 10, at Grant County Health Department.

Women of Purpose began in 2011; an idea began bubbling among the women in the community.  How could they pool their money to help other women step up to meet their potential?  Excitement began to build as they thought of unique challenges women face to further their education, prepare for careers, raise their families and keep themselves strong mentally and physically.  From that idea, Grant County Community Foundation’s Women of Purpose Fund was born.

The goal of this fund is to empower Grant County women to take an active and powerful role in philanthropy to serve other women and children.  The Women of Purpose fund will allow dedicated engaged women to make a difference in the lives of many without significant time commitment.  Their vision was to establish an endowment of $50,000 for the fund. The fund will grow each year from the annual renewals of the Women of purpose.

They have 49 Founders who each donated $1,000 to establish the endowed fund.  Those initial gifts plus the annual donations of $100 from more than 75 women, plus generous donations from the community have accumulated to more than $228,000 since 2011.

Their dream is to have 100 women donate $100 each year.

•$50 of that donation will go to the Women of Purpose grant to be awarded that year.

•$50 of that donation will be added to the endowed fund to increase their investment in the future.

Women of purpose program’s purpose is to serve women of children in Grant County.  Due to the generous donation from the Pink Out Committee, they are able to serve men and boys at the Health Fair.  This year’s Pink Out was Tuesday, January 27, they received $23,000 from the Pink Out Committee last year.
