Welcome Back to School!
I love the excitement and energy that surrounds the beginning of a new school year. There is something special about new beginnings, fresh goals, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students.
I would like to express how excited and grateful I am to be joining Ulysses USD 214 as the new Assistant Superintendent! This is a wonderful community that truly loves and supports its schools, and I am honored to be a part of the Tiger Family.
What has stood out to me most about the staff at USD 214 is their willingness to do what is bestfor kids. The district’s mission, “Preparing Every Student – Every Day!”, is more than just words, it is embraced and lived by the people who serve our students each day.
A little about me: I grew up in southwestern Oklahoma and earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University and my master’s degree from Emporia StateUniversity. I have spent 24 years in education, with the majority of my teaching career taking place in Texas and Colorado. Most recently, I had the privilege of serving as the Superintendentat Spearville before joining USD 214.
Outside of school, my husband, Judd, and I are proud parents of three grown children Tori, Tyler, and Holton. They are currently spread across Nebraska, Arizona, and Texas, which gives us plenty of reasons to travel!
My primary focus this year will be curriculum and instruction. I look forward to strengthening our systems and providing support for high-quality teaching strategies that help every student grow, learn, and achieve their goals for the future. I believe strongly in supporting all aspects of education, building effective systems, and creating classrooms where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Daina Butler
Assistant Superintendent
