Local Residents Judge Science Fair

Posted

Two Ulysses High School science teachers and Tyler Hook traveled to Protection, Kan., January 28, to judge the South Central Middle School Science Fair.

The school has continued to expand its science fair as a way to provide hands-on educational opportunities for students. What began as a smaller event has grown to include fifth through eighth graders, with nearly 100 project boards displayed at the 2026 fair.

Students presented their projects by compiling research boards and demonstrating their use of the scientific method to prove or disprove their original hypotheses. Following the judging process, winners were selected, and the projects remained on display throughout the weekend for families and community members to view.

After any required revisions were made, selected projects were submitted for entry into the Kansas Regional Science Fair in Liberal.
