Sianuqui First In GWAC Singles, Lady Tiger Tennis Finishes Second

Lady Tiger Golf Fourth In conference; Wolf Heads To State

The Ulysses High School Lady Tiger Tennis Team placed second as a team Oct. 7 at the Great Western Athletic Conference tournament in Scott City.

Clarrissa Sianuqui placed first in singles, making the All League team and earned GWAC Player of the year honors.

Nayeli Romero placed fourth in Singles, while Aaralyn Flores and Corley McCormick placed fifth in Doubles, and Emily Dodge and Ximyna Rojas placed ninth.

•The Lady Tiger Golf team placed fourth in GWAC and Hanna Wolf earned All-GWAC Honorable Mention, finishing eighth in the individual league standings.

Ulysses Lady Tigers golf team had an excellent day at regionals October 14, shooting their best round of the season as a team with a 436 team total. That’s 52 strokes better than any other round this season.

“These ladies all shot better than their average score for the year,” said coach Jack Wolf.

Hanna Wolf shot 86 to finish second in the regional tournament and qualify for State, 14 strokes below her average; Jayden Blundell shot 119, six below her average; Sol Villar shot 131, six below her average; Natalia Guaderrama shot 108, 22 below her average, and Layla Eddie shot 123, 15 below her average.

“Even though we played well our team didn't qualify for state,” Wolf said..  

Hanna Wolf placed second at regionals and will be playing at state golf next Monday and Tuesday in Hesston. Natalia Guaderrama missed qualifying by three strokes.
