Tigers Dominate Ulysses Meet

Tiger Cross Country Competes In Johnson

The cross country squads from Kepley and UHS competed in their home meet at Bentwood Golf Course Tuesday afternoon, and many of the teams dominated the competition.

The Kepley seventh grade boys were led by a seventh-place individual finish by Brody Elliott in a time of 14:07 in the 2-mile race; Jose Torres was 14th in 14:44, Aubrey Hegwood 18th in 15:09, Sebastian Hermosillo 21st in 15:23.

Other Kepley seventh grade finishers included Andres Vasquez (40th) 17:33; Javier Galvez (57th) 21:54, and Nickolas Wise (58th) 23:22.

In the seventh grade girls 2-mile, Bailey Smith was 43rd in a time of 26:49.

The Kepley eighth grade boys were led by Kaleb Brown (42nd) 17:12 and Calvin Ask (54th) 21:08.

Camila Martinez finished the eighth grade girls 2-mile in eighth place with a time of 16:29;

Aurora Reppart 10th in16:39; Yazelyn Ontiveros 17th in a time of 17:45, and Keren Enamorado 32nd in 20:19.

The UHS varsity boys dominated, led by gold medalist Jared Burns who won the 5K race in 19:36. Josue Melendez was second with a time of 20:07, Waylan Lattimore fourth in 20:28, Jaxsen Salinas sixth in 20:47, Luis Contreras seventh in 20:53, Maddox Delgado eighth in 21:25, and Sebastian Heredia 10th in 22:58.

Lizabeth Urena won the JV girls race in 28:58, Galilea Martinez was second in 29:52, Liccy Perez third in 31:10, and Viridiana Delgado fourth in 31:11.

The  boys JV team also dominated with Malaki Delgado capturing gold in 21:31, Quincy Sierra was second 21:35, Juan Carlos Torres fourth 22:01, Jesus Holguin fifth in 22:28, Anthony Sabillon sixth in 22:46, Steven Villeda seventh in 22:27, and Dominic Orosco ninth in 23:37.

Daniel Martinez was 11th place in 23:53, Israel Correa 13th in 24:14, Jonathan Tarango 15th in 25:17,  Mauricio Acosta 16th in 25:44,  Jose Barrientos 17th in a time of 25:52, Leonardo Salinas 18th in 25:53, Helios Garcia 19th in 25:56, William Ground 20th in 27:32, Jesus Hernandez 21st 27:39, Angel Velo 22nd in 28:37, Lane Gaddis 23rd in 28:49, and Darren Marquez finished in a time of 29:34.

Keply, UHS compete in Stanton County

JOHNSON — The Kepley Middle School and Ulysses High School Tiger cross country teams made a short trip to Stanton County last Saturday, coming away with a few medals.

Seventh grader Brody Elliott finished third  in his division in a time of 12:57.29 and seventh grader Jose Torres finished fourth in 13:03.17. Elsewhere in the seventh grade boys division, Sebastian Hermosillo  was 12th in 13:50.61; Aubrey Hegwood 13th in 13:50.95; Andres Vazquez 23rd in 16:24.39; Javier Galvez 32nd in 20:59.76, and Nick Wise 34th in 21:13.6.

In the eighth grade boys division, Caleb Brown finished 16th in 15:50.60 and Calvin Ask was 21st in 19:32.83.

The Kepley eighth grade girls were led by Aurora Reppart 13th in 15:27.57; Yazelyn Ontiveros 16th in 15:57.17; Camila Martinez 17th in 15:59.87, and Karen Enamorado 25th in a time of 19:03.56.

Bailey Smith led the seventh grade girls with a 20th place finish in a time of 26:40.13.

Lizbeth Urena won the JV girls race and the JV boys were led by medalists Quincy Sierra in fifth and Juan Carlos Torres in seventh.
