High school wrestlers from across the region competed Friday, December 12, and Saturday, December 13,  at the Ron Smith Invitational Wrestling Tournament, where the Ulysses High School wrestling teams pinned their way to a highly successful weekend.

The tournament highlighted standout performances from both the UHS girls and boys wrestling teams, showcasing individual achievements and strong team finishes.

A major milestone was reached by UHS wrestler Jeymi Rosales, who earned her 100th career win during the tournament. The Ulysses girls wrestling team delivered an exceptional overall performance, earning six first-place finishes, three second-place finishes, and one placement each at third, fourth, and fifth. These results secured the girls team first place overall at the tournament.

The UHS boys wrestling team also saw significant success in a competitive field of 12 teams. The Tigers earned three first-place finishes, along with additional second- and third-place finishes, and placed wrestlers at sixth, eighth, and ninth. As a team, Ulysses finished second overall, falling just 2.5 points behind Scott City. At the conclusion of the tournament, a UHS wrestler was also recognized with the Outstanding Wrestler award.

The continued success of the UHS girls wrestling program has drawn attention throughout the community and surrounding area, while the boys team continues to uphold Ulysses’ long-standing tradition of wrestling excellence. Both programs enter the remainder of the winter season with strong momentum and high expectations.
