The Ulysses High School wrestling team compete at the 4A state meet in Salina last weekend. Of the seven wrestlers who went, five advanced to Saturday's finals.
Dominic Sanchez, opened the championship round with a loss to Chance Wilderman (Frontenac) then defeated Delano Sheffield (Bishop Miege) 11-9 (Fall 1:19) and fell to Brodie Starcher (Tonganoxie).
Roman Romero fell to Trenton Frank (Scott Community) by technical fall fall and in the consolation round, fell tovBeau Underwood (Tonganoxie) by fall.
Sebastian Heredia won by decision over Talon Wark (Colby) 11-4 to open the championship round, then fell to Dax Duffett (Tonganoxie) by 11-9 decision in the quarterfinals and fell to Trayven Conger (Goodland) by major decision
Jaxsen Salinas opened the championship round with a fall over Jayden Waterer (Silver Lake) at 1:55, but lost in the quaterfinals to Cruz Hershberger (Buhler) by 6-1 decision.
In the consolation round, Salinas won by 7-2 decision over Dayven Cuba (Abilene) before losing to Tristen Cox (Andale) by 1-0 decision.
In the 150 pound class, Preston Hittle fell to Bryson Crotinger (Santa Fe Trail) 7-2 by decision, droppiing to the consolation round where he fell to Brennen Westervelt (Coffeyville-Field Kindley) by technical fall to end his day.
In the KSHSAA Girls 4A State Championship Jeymi Rosales (39-12) was one of two Lady Tigers to compete, and the only to advance to Saturdays championship round.
In Championship Round 1, Sadey Gross (Holton) won by fall over Rosales, dropping Rosales to the consolation round where she won by major decision over Alexys Epp (Paola), 13-2 before falling to Kenzlie Crain (Lindsborg-Smoky Valley) by fall.
